15 August 2006 Van Der Meer Consulting Civil - WA
We are pleased to announce that we have been recently awarded the civils and infrastructure for a proposed 200 (plus) unit village in Wattle Grove.

Construction is due to start in the early part of 2007, with the design and documentation proceeding until the end of this year. When it is finished, it will be one of the largest villages of its kind in the area.

The shop detailing division here is now trading as "Riverside Structural Modelling", focusing on developing BIM technology (Building Information Modelling) with the ‘Tekla’ shop detailing software.

Adrian Christie is now managing the section and all is proceeding well. With his enthusiastic team, Michiel, Cyril and Nathan, they are supporting Andrew and Damian van der Meer in delivering construction documentation (literally from ‘concept to completion’) for the new Laverton warehouses.

Anil Hira is busy establishing the new office in the Middle East and we have an exciting new tower project with boutique Melbourne architects Lab Bates Smart who designed Federation Square.

The Melbourne office continues to work on architecturally progressive projects with cutting edge firms McBride Charles Ryan, Buro Architects, Tandem Studio and Fender Katsalidis among others.

Construction has commenced on the Mandurah Peninsula Redevelopment at “The Point” in Mandurah WA. This project has an approximate value of $80M. Rick Hoad's team has performed the structural design for the project. Obviously feeling that too much work is never enough, Rick Hoad's team has also commenced design for a 7 storey $30M commercial / residential development located in Yeppoon QLD.

At a glittering awards ceremony on Friday night, at the Star City Casino in Sydney, Van Der Meer Consulting (NSW) has won the 2006 Australian Steel Institute (NSW and ACT)  Structural Engineering Steel Design Award, for the “Rhodes Shopping Centre” project, located in inner western Sydney. In the same category, a High Commendation award was won for the “Scotts Church Redevelopment” project, located in the Sydney CBD. Congratulations to Bill Gunther, Maurice Bitar and their team (Rhodes), and to Milton Webster, Marcio Portes and their team (Scotts Church).
Awards such as these are a tangible celebration for a lot of hard work and effort, so it is very pleasing that the team’s efforts were suitably recognised.

10 May 2006 Van Der Meer Consulting WA

Van Der Meer Consulting WA will be undertaking the Structural and Civil Engineering on the new Coles Warehouse Facility to be built at the Perth Airport site with Australand. Our Eastern States counterparts in the Sydney and Melbourne office Joint Venture with Australand, we were engaged by Multiplex in Perth to look at the projects and it appears they have lost the job. The Perth office will be doing most of the Engineering Design.

The Maltings project was successful in taking out the UDIA Award for Excellence 2005 and will now also represent the state in the Urban Renewal Category at the National Awards, to be held on the 6th of April.

Our Airlie Beach office is extremely busy at the moment under the management of Denziel Harris and Sean Sandford, with the Laguna project still proceeding and 2 other major subdivision and Golf Course developments happening in the region.
